The Go-To Pizza Crust
Trying to order pizza online or over the phone is a lot like rolling the dice to have good pizza. You know what I’m talking about. Even a trip to the store is iffy. That’s why I decided I had enough and made my own pizza at home. Bonus was using leftover veggies and meats in the fridge so that they don’t go to waste. Especially having a garden, making pizzas at home can give you an excuse to use the extra stuff you grow.
Pizza Crust
- 2 1/2 cups flour; all purpose, bread flour, or Italian flour(preferred)
- 1 packet of instant yeast
- 2 tsp sugar
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/4 tsp garlic powder
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 3/4 cup warm water
- In a large bowl, whisk together 1 cup flour, yeast, sugar, salt and garlic powder.
- Add 2 tablespoons olive oil, warm water. Mix.
- Gradually stir in 1 cup flour, stirring until the dough forms a soft, elastic ball. Use remaining flour if needed. Dough should be slightly sticky but able to form a ball.
- Prepare a large, clean bowl by generously brushing it with olive oil.
- Transfer the dough ball to the bowl and turn once so that the dough is lightly oiled on all sides. Cover the bowl with a towel or plastic and set it in a warm place to rise until doubled, 30-60 minutes.
- Once the dough has risen, gently punch it down, then transfer it to a floured surface and knead for 1 minute, until smooth.
- Preheat the oven to 425°.
- Roll the dough into a large circle, then place it on a pizza pan. Poke the dough all over with a fork and brush the dough with olive oil.
- Top pizza with pizza sauce, cheese, any vegetables, and or meats you like.
- Bake for 12-15 minutes until cheese is melted and reaches the desired level of doneness.
Enjoy! Let me know if you made this or if you have any questions.
