The Go-To Pizza Crust

Trying to order pizza online or over the phone is a lot like rolling the dice to have good pizza. You know what I’m talking about. Even a trip to the store is iffy. That’s why I decided I had enough and made my own pizza at home. Bonus was using leftover veggies and meats in the fridge so that they don’t go to waste. Especially having a garden, making pizzas at home can give you an excuse to use the extra stuff you grow.

Pizza Crust

  • 2 1/2 cups flour; all purpose, bread flour, or Italian flour(preferred)
  • 1 packet of instant yeast
  • 2 tsp sugar
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp garlic powder
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 3/4 cup warm water
  1. In a large bowl, whisk together 1 cup flour, yeast, sugar, salt and garlic powder.
  2. Add 2 tablespoons olive oil, warm water. Mix.
  3. Gradually stir in 1 cup flour, stirring until the dough forms a soft, elastic ball. Use remaining flour if needed. Dough should be slightly sticky but able to form a ball.
  4. Prepare a large, clean bowl by generously brushing it with olive oil.
  5. Transfer the dough ball to the bowl and turn once so that the dough is lightly oiled on all sides. Cover the bowl with a towel or plastic and set it in a warm place to rise until doubled, 30-60 minutes.
  6. Once the dough has risen, gently punch it down, then transfer it to a floured surface and knead for 1 minute, until smooth.
  7. Preheat the oven to 425°.
  8. Roll the dough into a large circle, then place it on a pizza pan. Poke the dough all over with a fork and brush the dough with olive oil.
  9. Top pizza with pizza sauce, cheese, any vegetables, and or meats you like.
  10. Bake for 12-15 minutes until cheese is melted and reaches the desired level of doneness.

Enjoy! Let me know if you made this or if you have any questions.
